Lichen 1 is a drop wall structure that unfolds to reveal 4 triangular shaped spaces.

This drop-wall structure may have been developed by Kumi Korf. Each of the four walls of the cube drops down to reveal a triangular shaped space. One of the spaces holds an accordion book filled with original watercolors of various lichens. The book is covered with foil stamped leather and has specimens in mica glazed window cut outs. The recessed label is foil stamped on leather. The remaining three spaces have various lichens in sealed glass tubes. The tops are supported with copper rod.

Paper coverings are multi-run screen prints, hand-dyed with Moriki edging. Base and removable title band are of Cave Paper; exterior base is suede. Recessed into the base is a magnifying glass with leather wrapped handle and seed specimens trapped under thin glass.
