Ever since I worked with Pablo Neruda's Book of Questions, I've been intrigued by the idea of posing a series of questions as a poetic form. This small book presents a question, followed by a statement, followed by another question, then a one word summary statement. The text is digitally printed in color laminated to a monochromatic monoprint on translucent HM Japanese paper. The non text pages are a series of relief prints with extensive hot foil surface manipulations. The pages are bound with an unsupported sewing, then laminated to one another to create a book of stiff leaf pages. Housed in a three part, wrap around case with a recessed label of hot stamp foil on paper and ribbon closure.
Twenty two pages (+ end matter) with a millimeter binding housed in a wrap around case, Stasis is one in an ongoing series of one of a kind books created while honing my skills and/or figuring out an unfamiliar binding. I have little interest in making blank books so come up with some basic content with which to fill the pages. A bit of text I've been thinking about, or using up leftover prints from previous project.
